I've taken this inspirational statement to heart—after thinking for more than a couple of years about leading a writing retreat (my combined loves: writing and teaching), I've actually "stepped up the stairs."

It's happening the first weekend of this month.

Am I excited? You bet! Am I grateful for the writers who are making this opportunity possible? Absolutely!

And am I going to make myself crazy by trying to complete everything I have on my "to-do" list that is not related to the writing retreat, before I leave? Absolutely not!

For once, I am heeding my own advice about And so this month, WaterCooler is on hiatus and I am going to thoroughly enjoy spending the weekend with other writers.

How about you? Can you afford to take a personal sustainability holiday?

Then again, can you afford not to?
